Walk and Talk, Toronto
I believe nature is an ally and guide on our path. Walk and Talk is a way of bringing our bodies into conversation with ourselves, our surroundings and the natural elements. It is also a way to enrich the therapeutic relationship. It is fluid and “outside the box”, as we’re not confined to a therapy room, office or screen. It allows for mindful movement and deeper introspection and interoception, relational connections, creativity and perhaps a sense of awe and wonder. We can also think of nature as a bridge from our ancestry and lived experiences to this present moment, as we step into the future. Rather than being out in nature, we can explore ‘being with’ nature. Just like the trees roots run deep all around us, we can envision our own roots of compassion, belonging and resiliency, in all types of weather.
